Anticapital Records is working towards equity in the music industry.
We are musicians working with local artists and organizations to create a cultural, artistic alternative to the everyday humdrum. Our hope and goal at Anticapital is to give voice to those oft-unheard and to create a sense of community through sound recording -- we like to also think of our work as a stepping stone for our underrepresented sisters, brothers, and fellow humans who may be beginning or continuing on a path of sound creation.
Anticapital Records acknowledges the fact that we're working and living on unceded land. We are on the traditional territory of the Kanien’kehá:ka (‘People of the Flint,’ also known as ‘Mohawk’). The Kanien’kehá:ka are one of the five founding Nations of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and were referred to as the ‘Keepers of the Eastern Door.’ This island that we call Montreal is known as Tiotia:ke in the language of the Kanien’kehá:ka, and has historically served as a meeting place for other Indigenous nations.
We offer our experience and services to best meet your vision and realize your project. We also offer a "Come-To-You" service unique from most recording studios. As we grow our space from a basement to a larger studio, we can have you come in to lay down your tracks, or, if you have a suitable space but lack the recording equipment necessary, we will indeed come to you!
Our focus is on human flourishing through sound recording. What does that mean? To us, it means working alongside the next generation of songwriters and sound creators. It means helping you get out your first demo, first podcast episode, voice-over work. Whatever your passion may be in terms of sound recording, we will deliver high quality recordings.
